Laser and Laser Systems for Material Processing
Summer school on laser technology applications
From 26 to 30 August 2019 the Fraunhofer IWS and TU Dresden organize the eighth summer school “Trends and New Developments in Laser Technology” in Dresden, under the direction of Prof. Andrés Fabián Lasagni. The summer school will give the participants an insight into the latest developments in the field of laser technology and offers a perfect platform to exchange ideas and to network. Photonics represents a highly dynamic growth market and the laser is emerging as an indispensable tool in many areas of application. These range from efficient industrial material processing to scientific applications and medicine.
Expert lectures – practices at the Fraunhofer IWS
In the past, researchers from all over the world attended the summer school. In addition to lectures by experts and informal discussion sessions, the participants can give (optional) short presentations on their research. The program also provides insight into the practice of laser-based processes: four topics will be covered by practices in the laboratories of the Fraunhofer Institute IWS. The summer school focuses on various laser applications: surface hardening processes, laser cutting and laser welding as well as methods of additive manufacturing. Further topics focus on the use of ultrashort pulse lasers, structuring in the micro- and nanometer range as well as simulation of laser processes.
