PC-based Control: the fully integrated control platform
The Beckhoff control solution is based on a uniform hardware and software platform consisting of Industrial PCs, Embedded Controllers, EtherCAT and decentralised I/Os and drives. TwinCAT is an integrated automation software, which bundles all the machine functions that are required, including PLC, Motion Control, CNC, robotics, HMI, vision, safety and measurement technology, cloud communication and data analysis.
Open for integration into existing infrastructures: TwinCAT
TwinCAT handles all runtime functions in real-time and simultaneously serves as a development environment for programming, diagnostics and configuration, with all main IEC 61131-3 programming languages and interfaces for C/C++ and MATLAB®/Simulink® modules. Open interfaces open up a wide range of options, such as integration into existing visualisation, control and database systems. TwinCAT also supports functions and protocols that determine the implementation of the Smart Connected Warehouse concept as new standards for Industrie 4.0 and IoT solutions.

Open design: IoT concepts without limitation to specific cloud services
With TwinCAT IoT, standardised interfaces and protocols such as OPC UA, Beckhoff offers the basis for implementing IoT and Industrie 4.0 solutions. Here, too, users benefit from the openness of the control architecture, for example through unrestricted choice of the cloud solution. All the systems involved in the configuration, including control level, warehouse management and e-commercesoftware, are fully networked. This enables fast and intelligent handling of all products and reliable order processing. TwinCAT Analytics is a tool for system-integrated data storage and comprehensive analysis functions. Based on seamless data analysis, individual predictive maintenance concepts can be implemented and machine downtimes can be reduced.

Open for image processing: TwinCAT Vision
TwinCAT Vision integrates image processing tasks directly into the PC-based automation platform, including detection, measurement, identification, pick-and-place and quality control. In addition, all control functions derived from the image processing can be synchronised precisely in real-time in a runtime. Engineering takes place directly in the PLC. GigE Vision interface supports line scan and area scan cameras.
