Something's up! - The CERATIZIT MaxiMill 271 produces top quality surfaces

Anyone who prioritises cost-effectiveness, process security and flexibility in their user requirements specification can rest easy, as this is precisely what the extremely soft-cutting MaxiMill 271 tool system from CERATIZIT delivers. It can be used for a wide variety of applications and offers a range of effective options to produce top quality surfaces. In addition, wear is effectively reduced  and chips are quickly removed from the hot zone.

Face, slot and chamfer milling are what the MaxiMill 271 does best. It is available as a face mill with a 45° approach angle or as a high-speed tool with a 17° approach angle. The result is a product portfolio consisting of fine and coarse pitch holders that offers a range of flexible application options. The MaxiMill programme has now been expanded in line with market expectations by the addition of the 12 mm system size extension. The small size allows more indexable inserts to be attached to the tool holders, which in turn results in longer tool life and higher chip removal rates.

The power of eight
With eight usable cutting edges on each indexable insert, the double-sided MaxiMill 271-12 face milling system is extremely cost-effective. The cutting edges are sturdy and robust and consequently achieve high cutting speeds and provide the highest levels of process security. The tight manufacturing tolerances of the tool holders are one of the main reasons why MaxiMill 271 milling cutters produce the best face and concentricity properties. Perfectly quiet running is achieved through the irregular pitch of the base body, while the Masterfinish geometry of the precision-ground indexable inserts enables the outstanding surface qualities of the MaxiMill 271-12 to shine through. The indexable index grades and chip breaker geometries for the ISO categories P, M, K and S mean the system can be used across a broad range of applications.

Q – a case for performance agents
Trials using comparable competitor tools provided conclusive results: in unalloyed S355 structural steel, a 125 mm diameter MaxiMill 271 face miller returned a 50% higher feed per tooth fz; the CERATIZIT system exhibited an increase of 200% at cutting depth ap. There's no holding the MaxiMill in terms of chip removal rates (Q) either: the tool increases these by 430% (523 cm³/min as opposed to 97 cm³/min), resulting in 50% more completed components. Maximum performance like this is reserved solely for MaxiMill 271 professionals – thanks to the chip removal licence!
