USER GUIDE

Here we present CSM servo motors. They are fully compatible with simDrive servo drives (M4-H models). The motors incl. 5-meter power and encoder cables ended with industrial sockets from the motor?s side. This way you do not have to look for appropriate cables and to wonder how to connect them to the servo motor.

simDrive diagnostic utility software ? csServoManager is provided as a convenient software installer what makes the installation process runs automatically and you do not have to struggle through all the parameters and settings to run the drive. There are just some basic settings you need to do. There are also configuration profile templates in the csServoManager available for CSM 400W (CSM-040-230-2500) motors and 750W motors (CSM-075-230-2500D) ready to load.

These profiles contain all electrical parameters of a motor, an encoder and hall sensors. Using these quick settings you can save a lot of time and avoid many uncertainties.

After you have loaded these quick settings from the configuration profile template and if you have set your simDrive by default as it states in the driver?s manual ? there are only last configuration activities left ? PID loop tuning.

CSMIO/IP-S is a 6-axis motion controller. In combination with a PC and control software (simCNC, Mach3, Mach4) it?s an ideal system for CNC machines control. CSMIO/IP-S was designed for professionals, CNC automation manufacturers, retrofit specialists, and hobbyists, who want to equip their machine tool with efficient, stable and flexible CNC control system for the reasonable price.

How does it work?
In short, control software (simCNC, Mach3, Mach4) installed on a PC is the brain and CSMIO/IP-S controller is the heart of a control system. The control software (simCNC, Mach3, Mach4) changes gcodes into motion trajectory and sends it through the network connection to the CSMIO/IP-S. Basing on the trajectory the controller generates accurate step/dir signal for all axes. This division of tasks makes PC is less loaded.

The main advantages of CSMIO/IP-S controller

- Step/dir signal ? after the first run of a CNC machine equipped with the CSMIO/IP-S controller you will notice how smooth and precise is the work of your motors. It?s thanks to high-quality step/dir signal and data buffer which stores a small part of trajectory sent by control software (simCNC, Mach3, Mach4).
- Data buffer ? the mentioned trajectory buffer provides uninterrupted operation of a CNC machine, even in case of temporary problems with network connection or software control.
- Slave axis support ? up to 3 slave axes support with gantry geometry correction.
- Safety system ? the significant advantage of CSMIO/IP-S controller, is its safety system. It constantly watches over the safety of a user and a machine. It consists of many independent algorithms and watchdogs which react very fast in case of forbidden or alarm situations. RESET support for axis drives. Support of FAULT signals from servo drives (immediate stop of a machine in case of any axis accident).
- Solid aluminum housing, which dissipates heat and protects electronic circuits very well. Readable led controls on a front panel which make it easier to install and simplify diagnostics in case of any problems with switches or other external devices that cooperate with CSMIO/IP-S.
- VB macros ? you can control all digital and analog signals using macros.
- Industry standard ? CSMIO/IP-S controller is adapted to worldwide standards applied by servo and stepper drives manufacturers, including:

How does it work?

CSMIO-IO is an expansion module of additional digital inputs and outputs.

During retrofit of a machine, it may show up that digital inputs and outputs number available in CSMIO/IP-S or CSMIO/IP-A controller is not enough. In this situation, CSMIO-IO module is the solution as it has 16 digital inputs and 8 digital outputs. In extreme situations, we can use up to 16 of these IO modules.
CSMIO-IO module is supported only by CSMIO/IP-S and CSMIO/IP-A controllers.

JOG Expansion Module - CSMIO-MPG
CSMIO-MPG is a 6-axis JOG module, which in connection with rotary encoder provides easy, effortless and most of all intuitive machine axes moving. It was designed for more professional CNC machines operation. This way a user can get not expensive, precise tool for fast configuration of a material base (G54, G55 ?), a tool magazine (tool length offset) and also for fast manual treatment or fast manual rides.

How does it work?

After pressing ENABLE button on a manual handwheel, a CSMIO-MPG module via a CSMIO/IP controller switches Mach3 to MPG mode. In case of lack of the ENABLE button or if a user uses a solution based on an operator panel an axis selection switch may play the ENABLE button role. The switch must be then equipped in OFF position (switching from the OFF position to any other axis position will have the same effect as pressing an ENABLE button). After switching Mach3 to MPG mode, the CSMIO-MPG module starts continuous encoder pulses counting and also verifies digital inputs state, to which there are switches connected (of axis selection and step size). All the information are transferred through CAN bus to a CSMIO/IP motion controller, where they are changed into motion trajectory for a selected axis.

Several algorithms are watching over motion trajectory creation. The algorithms? task is to make axis motion precise and smooth. This way prepared motion trajectory is performed by a servo drive or a stepper drive. At the same moment when an axis is moving the CSMIO/IP motion controller sends current axis position to Mach3 software this way that its axis position DRO shows the current position.

CSMIO-ENC is a module for position, speed and angle reading from three incremental encoders compliant with the RS422 standard. It was designed to operate spindles (together with an encoder mounted on a spindle, it creates an independent measuring system, providing precise data for CNC control software). The data, depending on the capabilities of your control software (simCNC/Mach3/Mach4), can be used, for example, to read the current spindle speed, threading or spindle positioning. The CSMIO-ENC module works with 6-axis motion controllers CSMIO/IP-S and CSMIO/IP-A.
