Please help with V26 4Th problem

Hello there, I been fiddling with this all day

I am going to attempt to attach 3 files,

    1) part

    2) wire frame part

    3) Un-Wrapped feature

About 1-2 years ago, A member named "Burr Man" helped me with building my post
    for my Fadal

I sure hope he is OK, I cannot seem to find any recent posting from him, But He
was a Guru on V26 with these types of issues

I tell ya, Im really stuck on this one, Its basically a small simple trunion cog the appears
very simple at first sight, There is 2 components that have to match

For some reason, I cannot get this darn thing to post, Even in un-Wrap mode

I suspect the darn stock wizard is really messing with me, I did test some older
    programs, And they post fine

So any pros out there that can help, I would really appreciate the help

The CAD drawings are very crappy, Double lines, And even triple features

Please review the attachments and tell me what the heck Im doing wrong!

I am trying to Zip 3 files, So bare with me!

Edit, I think I got attachments uploaded!

Hey Waynno.I have no clue on 4th axis work,,,
    But I had a look Nut2.bbcd file.
I noticed it would not chain select
    so
I looked harder and this is what I found.
Delete that extra line and all will chain select.
    All I got for now.

I opened up Nut Wire Wrap .bbcd and saw this

Hint, bad geometry is usually the reason you get unsuccessful CAM

Hope that helps,I really have no idea on 4th axis.

Hey Jr... Maybe look at the stock setup and note the origin location. Then this should correlate to the wrapping groups setting... As in, if he wants to setup the stock zero on top, then the wrapping groups rotation axis should be set to middle, etc.. (negative number to where stock is chucked....

Or if stock origin is centered on stock, then be sure wrapping group edit is set to diameter of stock rotation.....

if can't, then maybe tomorrow Al will see this.......

As Jr was saying the double geom does have to be clean, I do think it is the stock is giving you the trouble maybe also select 4 axis machine.

As in Als video the bottom depth of the geom needs to be selected or overlap as in my sample at start and stop may create a problem.

This is a link to Als video which is a big help.

Re: Please help with V26 4Th problem

    OK, guys, Thanks a bunch

Will try some of those suggestions, I did watch the Vid yesterday V25 on Wrapping,

The group does chain select, and I went back and checked an old wrapping routine I
did about a year ago and the 4X Fadal post seems be functioning correctly

It also will generate code in 3X mode, But ya switch to 4X and getting no "A" movements,
Maybe the part is so tiny, I am missing a resolution setting?

First off will verify if everything is connecting tangent and no Xtra crap

    Getting back at it today

    Thanks

Re: Please help with V26 4Th problem

Guys, Please stand by on this,

I had asked the engineer to keep all the fillets
at .032 so I could use a .0625 end mill, Apparently there are no fillets on this
part, and I have to re-do the geometry to reflect .0156 fillets.

Its a very small stainless part, and I dont even know If I can make this with a .031 end mill

I did not realize this until now

So hang tight, I appreciate the help, The geometry needs to be re-worked to
work with a .031 end mill

    Thanks

Re: Please help with V26 4Th problem

    Hi Waynno,
Sorry I wasn't around to help out when you needed it.

Here is your part somewhat setup, so you can reference again if needed....

First as other pointed out, the solid has some weird bad trimming, but I don't think that may have bothered what you are trying to do? It just renders your solids fillets as not filleted in some places, especially for the unwrap....

So with that said, I rebuilt the solid and used mostly .01 fillets..... I'm not sure of the requirements on your end, or if that would render this particular model bad, but just as a starting reference to "setup the part and stock", which is where I think your original question was anyway....

So in the file, you are "unwrapping" the little squiggly contour that goes around. So you have to make your wrapping group the size of that unwrap, or things wont jive up.... So I made the "Stock" in this file the size of the wrapping group, then set the actual stock size as top of part for clearances...

I did this toolpath with a .03125 end mill....

You can look at it and sim it and see if anything will strike the bone with what you were looking for help on... Also, if you want to discuss it more, post back....

Re: Please help with V26 4Th problem

And a side note, to what JR was pointing out, is after you start to add fillets to the areas that are angled, the actual surface would become a 5 axis part, but the 5 axis part on this is SO SMALL, I don't really think it is something you are concerned about??? Just the note for your information....

    Ok great Wayne.

Be sure to note that the model I posted has that front area completely rebuilt... So be sure to check it against what your original intent was, to be sure I didn't change something too far off what you had...

Re: Please help with V26 4Th problem

Ok Mr Burr, And any interested,

I did a test on .5 brass tonight

Im sure Mr Burrs mod to the model will be acceptable

Please note attached Pic id .5 brass stock, The final part will be 304 0r 316 SS

Om quite sure the engineer will be satisfied with the test articals

Again Much thanks, It will get me out of a bind, I could not work out myself

I really still dont think an upgrade from 24 to 26 would have done me any good,
So I wish Bob would quite calling me and Emailing for now, We are not on fire
    with work at the moment

Thanks, I will send this pic to engineering and see if acceptable
