The decision between hard milling and coordinate grinding requires a trade-off between costs, machining time and precision. FEHLMANN solves this question with the new VERSA 645/643 linear, VERSA745/743 and VERSA 945/943 with coordinate grinding function: Both processes are perfectly combined on one machine. You decide on a case-by-case basis and flexibly how the desired surface can be achieved most economically.

With the VERSA 745, workpieces up to Ø 500 mm can be machined 5-axis with high precision. The rotary swivel table, which is integrated into the machine concept from the start, offers a generous swivel range from -135° to +120°.
Application / Field of application
The machining center in portal design is used for high-precision 5-sided or 5-axis machining in titanium and aluminum, e.g. for aerospace, milling of hardened tool pieces in mold and tool making, the machining of stainless steels in medical technology and the machining of demanding workpieces in general mechanical engineering and vehicle construction.

stands for precise, dynamic machining of demanding workpieces with the highest level of operating comfort. Whether 5-axis machining with positioning or 5-axis simultaneous milling or highly dynamic 3D milling, VERSA machines impress with the highest dynamics and thus short machining times per component. Weight and stiffness-optimized moving parts made of high-strength spheroidal cast iron guarantee the best dynamic accuracy.
The VERSA concept is compact, user-friendly, perfectly accessible and can be optimally adapted to a wide range of customer requirements. A standardized or customer-specific automation solution can be easily retrofitted at any time, as one side of the machine always remains free for automation.
Direct dialog with the control system
For tool changes, Fehlmann continues to rely on fast double grippers with the VERSA 745. In the standard version, the chain magazine offers 42 places, optionally 74. Optionally, the tool changer rack magazine with up to a maximum of 600 places can also be used. In this context, it is important that the appropriate data for the tool magazine is stored in Fehlmann Tool Management and the Heidenhain control. Swiveling the control also ensures an optimal view of the loading station.
Highly productive thanks to automation – retrofittable at any time
With its sophisticated and compact design, the VERSA 745 can be automated at any time. Thanks to the automatic door located on the right side of the machine, it can also be easily connected to an automation system. The work area is freely accessible from the front in any arrangement for setup work and process monitoring. Depending on the number of pallets and the variety of parts, the system can be controlled and monitored via a pallet management system integrated in the control system or via the flexible FEHLMANN MCM™ (Milling Center Manager).
