Photonics21 gründet Task-Forces

Auf der Sitzung des Entscheidungsgremiums Board-of-Stakeholders von Photonics21 Ende November 2015 wurden vier neue Task-Forces gegründet. Diese widmen sich zukünftig wichtigen strategischen Themen der Public-Private-Partnership und sollen die Kooperation mit der Europäischen Kommission noch stärker unterstützen.

Die vier neu gegründeten Task-Forces sollen das Executive Board der Photonik-Plattform künftig stärker bei der Kooperation mit der Europäischen Kommission und der Weiterentwicklung der Photonics Public Private Partnership (PPP) unterstützen. Sie widmen sich den folgenden Themen:

•    Financing Photonics beyond Horizon 2020 PPP
•    Photonics PPP Key Performance Indicators
•    Regional Innovation Hubs
•    Photonics21 Annual Meeting Event

Finanzierung
Es gibt vielversprechende Projektideen der Industrie innerhalb der Photonik PPP, die den Aufbau von Produktionsstätten und neuen Jobs in Europa zum Ziel haben. Die finanziellen Ressourcen des PPP-Budgets sind jedoch von signifikanten Kürzungen betroffen. Die Arbeitsgruppe „Financing“ sucht also nach ergänzenden Finanzierungsmöglichkeiten für Innovationen in der Photonik, die beispielsweise aus der European Investment Bank (EIB) oder dem European Investment Fund (EIF) zugänglich gemacht werden können.

Key Performance Indicators
Zur Laufzeitmitte soll in den Jahren 2016/2017 das EU-Rahmenprogramm Horizon 2020 und die Photonik PPP überprüft werden. Die „Key Performance Indicators“ sollen dabei die Leistungsfähigkeit und den Fortschritt der Photonik PPP analysieren und bewerten. Hieraus können Empfehlungen abgeleitet werden, wie die Photonik PPP ihre Bedeutung bzw. ihren Mehrwert für die EU weiter steigern kann.

Regional Innovation Hubs
Ein weiterer Ansatzpunkt ist die Stärkung oder gar Neugründung regionaler Kompetenzzentren für die Photonik. Durch eine engere Kooperation der Photonik PPP mit den für die Photonik relevanten Regionen sollen Synergien genutzt und der Zugang zu Photonik Expertise und Infrastruktur für möglichst viele europäische Unternehmen ausgebaut werden. Die Arbeitsgruppe setzt sich für eine stärkere Zusammenarbeit der verschiedenen Regionen bzw. auch der EU-Mitgliedsstaaten für neue Photonik-Initiativen ein.

Photonics21 Jahresversammlung
Um die inhaltliche Ausgestaltung der jährlichen Mitgliederversammlung von Photonics21 kümmert sich künftig die vierte Arbeitsgruppe. Dadurch soll das europäische Netzwerktreffen noch stärker am Nutzen und an den Interessen der Teilnehmer anknüpfen.

Ausarbeitung des neuen Arbeitsprogramms 2018/2020
Des Weiteren wurde dem Board-of-Stakeholders der Zeitplan für das Horizon 2020 Arbeitsprogramm für die Jahre 2018 bis 2020 vorgestellt: ab März 2016 werden die Forschungs- und Innovationsthemen von der europäischen Photonik Community ausgearbeitet und in mehreren Workshops konsolidiert. Nach Diskussion dieser Themen mit der Europäischen Kommission werden die Prioritäten nochmals mit dem „Partnership Board“ der Photonik-Plattform final abgestimmt. Bis zum Ende des Jahres 2016 soll somit die finale Liste der neuen Ausschreibungsthemen für das Arbeitsprogramm 2018-2020 von Horizon 2020 fest stehen .
