    4140HT Steel Feeds and Speeds

I am looking for some insight on cutting 4140HT Steel. I am only familiar with cutting 6061 aluminum, so steel is totally new to me. Do you have any speed and feed tips, or any machining tips in general? I will be using mainly 7FL 1/4 and 7FL 1/8 Endmills. Please let me know, thanks!

Re: 4140HT Steel Feeds and Speeds

there is a variety of carbide end mills with a variety of cutting conditions, thats assuming your using carbide . There isn't really a one answer fits all
if the tools your using are of quality then the manufacturer's website should have the recommended sfm for their cutters
