    ADD B axis to PathPilot

I am working to add a new axis (B) to PathPilot . I have copied over what I think is everything to teh HAL and INI. BUT I get an error on load

HAL: ERROR: function 'pid.4.do-pid-calcs' not found

I am not sure exactly what it means. That line is on line 70 of the hal and the Pid 4 does exist and the PID data is in the INI file under axis_4.

Any Ideas on where to look next ???

This is a shot in the dark:

For example if your config already has 3 pid loops for controlling your axis and you want to add a 4th one.
    Change the line:
    loadrt pid num_chan=3
    to
    loadrt pid num_chan=4

It will not work to have two lines (even it they are in different hal files.)
    loadrt pid num_chan=3
    loadrt pid num_chan=1

I found the above info from the linuxcnc forum

AH that was it. I would never have found that. ThankYou

I now have B axis motion but no screen support yet. I will TRY to add it into the toolpath window up in the top left hand corner.

It will be used to drive an ATC. https://www.dropbox.com/s/62opkiumhv..._3165.MOV?dl=0
IF you did not know the BP hd a tool changer you would not notice it until it popped out and unfolded and went to work. Tools stay super clean.

Well B axis worked out BUT C sure did not (;-) I copied everything over to c and made all teh changes and NODDA. PP looks like it should be working but doesn't move C.

It is never easy (;-) TP

Re: ADD B axis to PathPilot

OK I found that sorry little copper head rattle moccasin problem child. Now I have a usefull B and C axis that is NOT linked into the toolpath. They will be used to run a dual arm 24 tool look ahead ATC with PathPilot in control.

Now I just need to figure out HOW to place a set of DROs in teh toolpath window . PP has some things there already I just need to figure out how they did it.
