    Additional machine configuration

On the same PC I had the need to save different configurations/machines. In one case completely different machines with a different Planet MK3/9 board, in another, same machine but configured on a second spindle, and more.
I would like there to be, in TNG, the possibility to save different machines/configurations directly from menu>files or from menu>machine, with the option to create a shortcut on desktop/application bar, instead of having to follow the laborious path well explained in the tutorial to duplicate a configuration, configure it and create a path with the link.
Would it be possible? Do you think it could be useful and helpful for the user?
    Is it difficult to implement?

I'm dealing with different profiles everyday and I never missed this feature.
After I prepare profile folder I just rename .default file.

I do not question your way of working. You are a professional and you created that software. But the path you follow to get to certain results may not be as comfortable for all users and it seemed like a good idea to be able to make life easier for them. Evidently it is a need that only I feel, and perhaps it comes from having used, in the past, other CNC controls/software that provided this possibility, together with that of complete wizards. From now on, I will refrain from suggesting changes or improvements to your software, since you think you are the only interpreter of your customers' needs.

    Re: Additional machine configuration

    All suggestions are welcome.
Changing profile can be problematic because some scripts run in the background and it is not easy to terminate them without bad consequences.
In addition, most users with "change profile" request actually needed just "mode switch". For example spindle configuration for changing between different spindles and lasers, changes of 4th and 5th axis configuration,..
All this can be done within single profile and at the end preferred my solution.
But do not think that your ideas are ignored because currently they are not possible. "Change profile" is definitely on the list for next major version.

Thank you for reply. I appreciate so much.
I understand and I will continue with the system that you also indicated in the tutorials.

    Re: Additional machine configuration

In Win 10, till today, I've used the procedure above, well explained in your old guide "How To".
But on Linux - Ubuntu 24.04 - the system commands are totally different. For example after "create shorcut" with right-clic over the .exe file, there is not the chance to modify the path adding "-p folderprofilename". in practice, on Linux, in the folder properties, there is no possibility to create/modify the path. Or rather, I can't find it.
Can you suggest "how to"? I've to work with terminal?

Does anyone have a solution for creating and using multiple configurations in Linux operating environment? It's probably trivial, but I couldn't do it...

Linux uses .desktop files. You can add command line arguments to "Exec" line.

Can you post an example of complete command line like your "how to" for Windows?
For me, is not so easy.
    Thank you in advance.
