First of all, sorry for making another one of these posts.

I've been looking for a couple of months now for the right laser cutter. Me and a friend want to start up small business. It will mainly be acrylics/plastics maybe some timber.
Our main requirements are:

• Needs to fit a full sheet of acrylic i.e. >1220mm x something (a lot of them have a pass through door at the rear)
• Needs a CCD/camera
• High quality and speed
• Probably around a 130W tube
• around $8k inc shipping

After contacting a bunch of supplers I have come up with the list below
So far the best candidates I've found are:

• G.weike LC1390SA
• XYZ EXLAS-X4/X4i
• Thunder Laser Mars130

Im leaning towards the G.weike LC1390SA because of the servo motors and TBI ball screw but I could be on the complete wrong track here.

So is there a better company to go with? Is importing from China easy enough?

You are not. A properly design system with ball-screws and servo should cut much better than one withe steppers and belt. But a poorly designed/assembled/inspected system with these components may perform worse than average stepper-belt system. The best way to approach this is to request samples made from the same file and material and compare them yourself. Additionally you may ask them for pictures of the internals to get a sense of the build quality.

If your writing the specs for a milling machine ball screws would be the ticket. But for a high speed laser belt drive with either steppers or servo motors will be just fine. Service and parts after the sale are very important unless your both experienced CNC people. The XYZ model I have not heard much about but the other two are good. I imported direct from China a Ray Fine galvo fiber laser and was very happy. If your in the US the LightObject dot com folks have a great product line, they might be able to "drop ship" to you?

Since your selling low power small size diode lasers, wondering why your even posting?

I think ball screws are the better option with servos. Not sure belts will hold up at the speed/acceleration servos are capable of.

I have never seen a laser engraver commercial grade with ball screws. Perhaps Industrial? If his primary purpose is cutting speed is not a big factor, power is. Engraving with a good machine with enough power and speed like perhaps the Trotec is the best choice. . A long ball screw can not be driven at the speeds the Trotec runs, which has heavy duty wide belts and servos.
