On my cnc control panel I have 8 push buttons and created the ID tags for them in my printer and glued them as needed. I want now to engrave these tags on some plastic material I have and I'm against a wall...

Each tag should be about 1" long by 1/2" height and the font a plain Arial font with a height of 3/16". I will use a 1/16" ball endmill with a max depth of cut 1/8"

I first tried the Engraving from the Toolpaths menu but never used that before and decided to stop.

Then I thought a plain Contour path maybe the solution. I used the Create/Letters menu to make my first tag "system" all in small letters. Then in the Contour Toolpath I set my parameters and at the end I get "Cutter compensation not Successful" and MCx5 after gets locked - have to restart the PC. Did it twice with different compensation and the same results

Any idea why this happens and perhaps a suggested solution?

Are you wanting the tool to replicate on top of the geometry ?
If yes, turn comp OFF, turn "Lead in/Lead out" OFF, and set offset to zero

If you have no idea of how to use "comp", don't use "in Control" or "Wear" comp types. Try using "in Computer", as this outputs correct path while assuming you are using the programmed tool diameter.
