    Question Disabling C axis on Fanuc 21i-MB

    Happy new year from Finland!

    We bought used Stimin FPH-800 milling machine. There is some problems with C axis and I'd like to temporarily disable it.
    On other machine we have, we only need to change parameter 1023(C) to -128.

    I have changed these parameters on FPH-800:
    0012.7 (C) -> 1
    1005.6 (C) -> 1
    1005.7 (C) -> 1
    1010 -> 3
    1023 (C) -> -128

    When cables of C axis are detached I get servo alarm on Z axis:
    401 SERVO ALARM : Z AXIS VRDY OFF

    Can someone help?

    Regards,
    Niko

    Hi Niko,

    On our YCM 21i-M it's parameter 9900, change 4 to 3 to disable 4th (A) axis.
    Check this one or one in the 9900-series.

    that parameter only sets the total number of axes. if A, B and C existed and only B needed to be disabled it wouldnt work.
    there's a way to select a specific axis but the info is generally not public (via option parameters) because it would allow people to add an axis without paying Fanuc. the Descriptions Manual lists the existence of it as 'Removal Of Control Axis; Parameter; Option'

    Hi fordav11,

    At my Fanuc 21i-M control I also have to set some parameters to select the 4th-axis On and Off.
    A technician told me a simple way to do this by parameter 9900, change 4 to 3 and back.
    Now it's very quick and easy to disable the 4th-axis.
    Thats why I suggested the 9900 parameter, at his control maybe an other number.

    Regards,
    Heavy_Metal.

    Problem was solved with Fanuc technician long time ago. I'd still like to share the solution. Parameters 2009/C.0 and 2205/C.2 is set to 1 and dummy is attached to servo amplifier, I will add a connection diagram for the dummy later.

    Would you please share the dummy connection. I also need to use one axis on 3 axis servo amplifier just for testing.

    Here is some pictures of the dymmy, two pins needs to be connected together. I don't have time to solve what pin numbers these are.

    Dear Niko,
    thank you very much for this advice. After that I've looked to the B-65270EN/05 Drives Parameter manual and found special note regarding disabling axis in multi-axis amplifier.
    "How to Use the Dummy Feedback Functions for a MultiaxisServo Amplifiers When an Axis Is Not in Use" - install Jumper between pins 11 and 12 and set 2209 bit 1 to 1 (in case of only motor encoder Feedback) and 2205 bit 2 (in case of separate feedback like glass scale).
    it's exactly what you've done with serviceman from Fanuc.
    Just tested on my 0i-MC and succesfully remove rotary table axis. Will make new encoder cable for it and install back.
    Thank you!
