    Doosan Puma 3100 XLY ------------Not cutting a proper circle

    Hi Below is the programming and pretty standard ISO g-code for cutting a circle but when running on this machine it does everything but cut a round hole -----------If i didnt no better its like the circle has such a large tolerance it is moving point to point no in an arc ---------Using X and Y axis ------Cutter 90 deg to Z axis head

    Hi . Looks like you are in the wrong plane . Try G17 instead of G18 in the 3rd line down . G18 to put it back just before the M99

    Try a -R value instead of a positive one or use I,J,K method
    the positive R command is used for less than 180. degrees

    I have just ran it through on our machine in simulation and it is producing ovals . Look like a dodgy output from your cam as X is a diameter value its movement should be double in the X compared to the Y and the movements are like for like .

    Thank you for running it through but same program running on standard vertical mill no issue so at a loss to be honest ------------------While using the milling function that is normal ISO i don't see any issue but running on a Lathe/Mill its a different approach and maybe something to do with how it calculates ARC values on the machine
    A different problem for sure

    Yes but a VMC is straight forward X and Y . On the lathe X is diameter so it is double. For example to turn a 40mm diameter on a lathe you program X40. But the tool is only 20mm from centreline . That is the reason it is doing arcs . I bet your PCD is knowwhere near 390 ish mm . It is your post that is not set up for a Lathe .

    Yes trying to get a lathe to act like a mill especially doing something like this is just not smart ---------Someone was using the C axis along with x to cut the holes and the machine is screaming to hold position --------I tryed work shifting it to the center of the hole and doing it that way so just the same ------A different problem that is for sure

    I will agree with Dale123
    if you are using a milling cam system you will need to double the X axis in order to make a round part
    using the C axis for the Y position is standard polar milling the only problem is that you have to take into account how good the c axis is to what/how you are cutting the feature
    clamping the c axis to machine the holes would be the most stable for cutting using x/y axis co-ordinates

    On a lathe the holes would be 160 center but on the Mill and Master cam its taken as 360 what its programmed to ---------The machine changing to holes milling using X and Y axis the machine builder has not inbcorprated into the machine only in G codes created by them -----------Not the first time or the last i have come across these over sites and yes holding the C axis clamped is more than needed when putting 100mm holes in a face --------------Most CNC software packages will only do standard milling so have to find another way to manipulate the control -------------Moving to the Milling command using X and Y plane and Z to spindle should have been an Easy flip and could be so standard even using G41/42 and G43 and H values for Tools ----Maybe a seperate Screen to be user friendly as none of the Doosan mills were every to complicated
