Hi I need to buy a replacement A02B-0283-B500 and I note my unit is a 18i-TB. all the replacements I can find are 18i-MB's (but with same A02B part number) is there any difference? can one be converted to the other?

Do you have an alarm? What kind of machine do you have?

Lets start with A02B-0283-B500. This is simply a Fanuc order number. You don't order a control with this number you order a complete system. This A02B-0283-B500 is only part of the system. The hardware within this controller varies from system to system based on your needs. It could be a Mill or a Lathe or even a Laser. How many axes you need to control and how much memory is all part of the makeup. None of these are specified by the A02B-0283-B500 number. The iB's got even trickier after 2007 as Fanuc locked out the option parameters and only Fanuc can turn them on. So if you do happen to find a unit that was built after 2007 chances are it won't have the same option base that you did and in order to use those feature you will have to get Fanuc involved to turn them on. (If they even would) Lets do like alexfanuc suggest and try to troubleshoot the real problem.
