We changed the die springs and thrust bearings on the Haas SL20 lathe. The turret, washers and thrust bearing slipped on fine. The turret retainer was installed and tightened. Went through the alignment procedure until it was aligned. Every thing seems to be working properly. It homes fine and the forward and revers works fine and is still aligned. However, you can grab ahold of a tool on the turret and give it a bit of a tug upwards. It moves the turret and the shaft around .250.

Does the clamping mechanism supposed to have enough force to keep the shaft and turret from moving?

or is there something else that keeps the turret and shaft from moving freely?
