Help me identify this lead screw size

    Hi Guys,

I recently strip the cross nut on my manual 3in1 lathe/mill and I can't find the replacement part from the manufacture... unfortunately... It's a Bolton Tools AT520 12" x 20" Combo Lathe/Mill | AT520 . But they don't stock that part any more and I can't find any info on the lead screw to buy a replacement or make one.

I need to identify the screw size/pitch... so maybe I can find a nut that can fit it or threaded one myself??? Is that possible? Can I get a tap that's the right size and just tap it like a normal screw?

    Attached picture and sizes.

    thank you.

Is it 5/8-10 or 5/8-11? I thought it was 10?

5/8-11 is common bolt size. Based on your pitch measurement of 2.3mm, that is 1/(2.3/25.4)=11.04 threads per inch. The common acme size would be 5/8-8. I assume you want a nut that actually fits. Neither 10 TPI or 8TPI is going to fit the screw unless your measurement is off.

It look like it should be 5/8-10

    10 thread per 1"
    Major Diameter .625
Minor Diameter .498 to .533 (can't get a accurate measurement.

But now I can't even find a simple freak nut that's 5/8-10 that cost less than 80.00. Some place has the nut for 25buck... but demand a minmum purchase of 60.00.. crazy,....

    Jimmyaz,

A vendor on eBay sells cross feed nuts that you might be able to retrofit or maybe he might even make what you need.

    See attached link for details:

Or a ballscrew retrofit might be cost effective.
