    How Many PSU's?

So first off, disregarding the PSU for the Stepper Motor drivers, this question is only related to the controller board i.e Controller Mk3/4.

I have purchased two Mean Well RS 15 12 psu's, one to power the control board, the other to supply the output boards i.e 1 OptoCtrl (for E stop) , 2 OptoIso Boards ( one for tool height sensor, the other for limit switches) and an Output board 3/4 for the VFD inverter.

So my question is: Is one PSU sufficient and reliably capable to supply these four boards? My main concern is the output board for the VFD which is also a 3 phase inverter.

    Cheers
    Dave

i run all the logic and peripheral side of my CNC off one PSU, inc coolant pumps etc. optoisolators etc draw very little current.

the planet ccn board needs ~200mA according to spec sheets.

with a 1.3A supply you should have a fair overhead for growth.

    Thanks for your reply,

I was advised that one PSU would be sufficient for three output boards, but my main concern was the supply to the VFD control board, and whether much like the main break out board needed its own PSU!

the VFD control board from planet CNC protects the control board from the high voltage AC and DC in the VFD, rather than generates the voltage itself. the VFD will usually eat wall AC and be very happy on that diet!
