I had a KA-300 glass scale go bad on my milling machine. I installed a replacement unit. Everything is working fine. However the scale came with two orange plastic pieces attached to the sender unit. Are these supposed to stay on after installation or should they be removed?

Typically a glass scale come with some method of holding the read head in place relative to the scale until after mounting in order to maintain the alignment. Typically removed before use,
