    Mastercam X8

    Greetings,
I am new to Mastercam, and I've just installed version X8 on my laptop. The attached photo shows that I'm able to import a model, set the stock settings, and choose the material. But when I try to select a toolpath, I'm "rewarded" with the attached warning message. What am I missing or doing wrong?

    Hi,
MasterCAM is made up of a series of modules, from basic mill modules through to five-axis HSM modules, each one you have to pay for.

Your imported model requires modules you don't have.

MasterCAM X8 is 10-15 years old, is it genuinely licensed? If so ask MasterCAM, they will surely sell you upgrades, but for X8 you'll probably have to buy new.

Thank you for responding. I was wondering if that might be the issue, or perhaps I haven't set up the HASP properly?

    Hi,
does the X8 refer to 2008 or 2018? I initially thought 2008, but on reflection I'm not sure thats correct.

As I understand it Mastercam offered a Version (V8) and later X8. I'm trying to run the X8

After reading my install manual again, I've discovered that I have the "red" hasp, and apparently that is intended for network installation.

If you were the person who originally purchased it ? The key has a number .That number is registered to the original person or company that bought it . What you have is usually something that walked out of the company that purchased it and sold under the table , Mastercam dose not approve of these type of sales .They can also see when that key is being used .Did you select a machine from the list before you tried to create a tool path ?

So you have a red USB key to plug in? That would be a Network Hasp. not sure were the conversation of V8 came from as you said and posted a picture of X8.
