Narrowing Guitar Fretboard with Frets Installed?

What are the chances I can get away with machining the sides of an ebony fretboard without removing the frets? I want to reduce the width by 0.05” on each side.

I'm thinking maybe a 4-flute downcut mill could work if I take very shallow passes. And if this could work, carbide or high-speed steel for the mill?

Depends on how close the frets are to the edge, are they blind or open slotted, is the fretboard bound, how good are you at measuring and setting up your machinery, etc.? I'd probably just use a plane or sanding block if it were mine.

Got any photos of the fretboard?
