Need help with squealing MicroLux 7x14

    Hello everyone:

This is my first post here and I need some help figuring out what is going on with my mini lathe.

I have a MicroLux 7x14 (model 82710) that I have used almost daily since 2010, and a couple months ago it began making a squealing/screeching noise when I run the machine.

I'm trying to determine why the machine is making this noise, in order that I might perform some preventative maintenance before an actual breakdown.

The screeching seems to be coming from the headstock. Could the bearing be wearing out? It doesn't make the noise every time I use the lathe, but it does worry me. I made a video so other could hear the noise it is making, but it is too large to load into the forum.

    Suggestions please!

    Thanks in advance,
    Mark

Have you been oiling it regularly? Usually a squealing sound indicates that the bearings are in deep distress, and may need replacement. But sometimes a little lubrication can work wonders, or maybe put things off a while.

So bro doesn't lubricate the shaft often huh? Making noise is a problem I often encounter too. You really have to pay attention!
