I am new in CNC machine and I have no idea what to do..NEED BIG HELP.

I have an old front end PC (windows XP) and GE Fanuc 15i-A on HSSB network.
I have to replace the PC (to Windows 11) and migrate to Ethernet.

Since i'm upgrading to windows 11, I will need to update fanuc ladder 3 edition to 9.7.
(i don't have a copy of fanuc ladder 3 on my pc so how would I be able to update to edition 9.7 and would there
be any risks associated with reading the existing ladder,macro files?)

Also, upgrading to ethernet will need ethernet card inserted on fanuc controller (do I need to choose certain model for compatibility with 15i-A?)

A new PC will have ethernet port but what about HMI? what do I need for me to be able to connect with ethernet cable?

and fanuc driver needs to be installed in new PC (fanuc FOCAS library?) to configure ethernet connection?
(is fanuc FOCAS library free or purchase?)

what other programs or configuration do I need to be able to use ethernet and read existing ladder/macros to operate as before?

lyou should talk to the MTB if it still exist to do the upgrade for you,easy way
If that is not an option will be very challenging for you to make the change by yourself
I am assuming you have the CNC SCREEN DISPLAY software on the XP PC to run the Fanuc interface
Also the most dificul part is if you run a certain custom software for operating the machine as you will never get the install kit from the MTB
in many cases i sent the hard of the PC to the MTB to install on it the custom software as they will not get you the kit to install
If you are not running custom software ,will be a little more easy
The board you need for your controller is A20B-8100-0450 but you will need the etehrnet option also active and you need to call Fanuc for make that active
The HMI part ,let it away as you can not run that on your controller
Focas library ar not free but you can get it also from Fanuc to install on new PC
I am still confuse why you need to run the Fanuc ladder 3 on your PC ?

Hi,

there are a couple of programs in the CNC that were protected (like custom screens) and couldn't get them off of the controller.
and I was told that I'd need a pc with fanuc ladder 3 to get the copies from the controller.
would that be accurate?

also, if the programs and ladder logics that are written in the controller are with old version of fanuc ladder 3, how do we update them to newer version(edition 9.7) so it is compatible with Windows 11?
i apologize for my stuipd questions.. as I am new to CNC..
