I'm very new to CNC, my field is automation and controls. Currently we're trying to put together a home-grown automation cell by introducing machine tending robots to a couple of our Okuma lathes.

The Robot Loader Interface (Anybus-x gateway) is installed on both machines and I'm trying to test the system using an AB PLC to connect over Ethernet/IP before introducing the Fanuc robots. The connection is good, I'm seeing the desired inputs on the I/O monitor but as I turn on the system link keeps throwing an alarm (1754-03 ALARM-A Coupling device alarm 2-A sd) that I just can't seem to find my way around.

Has anyone seen this before or know the cause?
