I work about 45-50hrs a week. I'm fairly new to the industry (been working full time for almost a year, worked ~30hrs a week on nights for 1.5years while going to trade school during the day). Currently making $16.50 as a machinist 1 at my company. Some days I'll be playing operator where I just hit go, adjust offsets, and sit on my phone during 30 minute cycle times. Other days I'll have to actually program and setup parts on my own (usually simpler programs). Other days I'll take a program that my supervisor wrote and setup the machine to run his program and I have to adjust his program as necessary to get the parts to run right

I think that too. Experience beat the cert or diploma but majority of company will hire you if you have a degree or below that level. experience is a must too of course. certificate and work experience in canada is a must to get a permanent visa.
