    PARTNER 3, C4 spindle starts, table won't move until motor stops!tops

    So on my Partner 3, Cent 4 machine, when running a program calling for M3, the program will start, spindle comes on and nothing happens. If I turn the spindle off manually the program will proceed and run just fine. The table will not start moving until the spindle is fully stopped (0rpm?) If I turn off the spindle, wait till the table starts moving, then turn spindle back on, the program proceeds just fine. It will turn the spindle off with M5 at the end of the program.

    The monitor has never shown the rpm, it's always read out 0000 since I got it. The front/back gear sensor wire was disconnected when I got the machine.

    Coolant has never worked. I found a broken enable wire on the selector switch in the front panel and fixed that long ago thinking that would fix it but it did not. Could the coolant (Spray and Flood) relays not kicking on be related?

    Is it waiting for an "up-to-speed" signal? Maybe it can't calculate RPM becase the gear select proxy sensor is not there?

    To many questions.

    Any help would be great.

    Ok, I got it working. I had a 3AM AH HA! moment. Setup Parameter 90 was calling for an Up-To-Speed check. I have no idea why that shook me from my sleep, but there we are.

    My Param . 90 was set to 100420. Changing to 100400 and it runs like it should. Or at least it runs the table with its called for.

    Parameter 90

    Byte 0 00000#
    1 = check 0 speed
    2 = output creep speed
    4 = check low range

    Byte 1 0000#0
    1 = check high range
    2 = check spindle up-to-speed
    4 = specify bipolar spindle D/A (-5 to +5 volt range)

    As far as coolant, I literally built in a webcam into the control cabinet so I can watch relays/etc. while at the front of the machine. The relays on the main relay board (PC-REL-1B) for coolant, CR8 for Flood and CR7 for Spray, are coming on both with the front panel selector switch and when calling for it in MDI/programs. This was not working before with the broken EN. wire in the front panel. So this is progress. Both pumps have been pulled during the testing so I will have to do further testing.

    I still wonder if they are locked out somewhere else waiting for the up-to-speed signal. Something with the MC1/MC2 contactors in the "Aux Box" section.

    Cheers!
    Evan.

    Coolant is working! Seems it was not only locked out by the up-to-speed wait, which is now turned off, but they do in fact run through the motor contactors. So no coolant unless the motor is running, which is annoying, but functional.

    The flood relay, CR8, when triggered, sends 110v power out of the "C" terminal on the relay board to another larger relay which then sends power, 110v common (X2), line F1 to the top terminal block. From there it goes to the motor in the tank.
    The old labels have all fallen off of the components long ago. So without deep reading in the manual I don't know what this relay is identified as "officially" There are 2 large clear relays in the center of the control cabinet, it is the upper one.

    Spray coolant runs from the CR7 relay, out the 61 terminal on the relay board, to the 61 terminal in the upper terminal block. From there it goes out to the AC solenoid in the spray coolant tank, if you still have that attached. In my case it runs to a new AC mist solenoid.

    Cheers
    Evan.
