Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
I have been dealing with this issue for some time and keep forgetting to try and fix it.
During back plotting with predator, using BC-23, the program will lock up anytime it sees a G73 or G83 drilling cycle. G81, G82 etc are okay, just on the G83 and G73 it happens. Requires me to bring up Task Manager and end the process and all work is lost. I forget abut it sometimes and write or modify long multi-tool programs and then hit back-plot and loose all of the work.
This issue stated about a year ago out of no where. No changes made to the computer.
So, does anyone know how the fix this issue. I know there is a genius here somewhere! :)
Thanks in advance----Mike
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
Well,I tried everything in the book to get it to fail,I can't
Can we start at the basics,like a file that don't back plot correctly ?
If I am remembering right from years ago,,you are running a Haas ?
Me too,,so maybe I can also upload some of my files (the internal computer stuff) maybe you got corrupted ? (hillary)
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
It has nothing to do with any particular program or machine. If I have a G81 and want to change it to G83 it will lock up as soon as it hits its that code, Restart and change it back to G81 and it is fine. Plots with no problems and like I said it has gone on for over a year now and I just keep forgetting about. Is there a way to get into its code and set-up?

What template are you using in Predator? Have you gone in to edit template and be sure to add (Or is added) the commands you want to operate on?
Attachment 364246
Ps. Remember to make copies and work on those. Don't edit your defaults and then get stuck!
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
Are you manually editing the G-code from a G81 to a G83? If so you are missing a parameter for a G83.
G81 X~ Y~ Z~ A~ R~ L~
G83 X~ Y~ Z~ A~ R~ L~ Q~
Q is the peck depth
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
if you go to computer/windows c/program files (86)/Preditor Software/Common Files/R-Post 7.0/mill/Haas VF Series
This is where the reverse processor lies
like a post processor,but for Preditor
How do you edit it????????beats the crap out of me,,but your answer may be there
That is why I suggested maybe giving you a copy of mine and see if that helps ??

I also have this piece of info,,,don't know if any of it pertains to Preditor Backplot or not...have not read it,,,throw away if no use

While we are at it,,,maybe this s of use for you
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
jrmach, you're right on it :)
Find the reverse post processor you are using and open it in Predator. If you scroll down to the bottom (or search for haas) you'll find the drill cycle parameters. Change it to fanuc and you'll be good to go!
Code:
cycle_param_style=FANUC
I never did figure out why the "haas" style cycles would crash. There are some other tweaks in the Reverse Post Manual that help with fine tuning your cycle times in Predator. Drill cycles often throw your times off but if you play with the params you can get it pretty close. Have fun!
BTW, if you don't know which Reverse Post processor you are using, open your Predator machine template in Predator and look for the "control" line:
Code:
; MACHINE DEFINITION FILE (PVCNC 5.1.2)
;
Machine_Type = MILL-5
Units = INCHES
Machine_Travels0 = [-30.0000,-20.0000,-30.0000]
Machine_Travels = [30.0000,20.0000,40.0000]
ToolChange_position = [-30.0000,-8.0000,0.0000]
HomePosition = [0.0000,0.0000,0.0000]
Control = C:\Program*Files*(x86)\Predator*Software\Common*Files\RPost*7.0\Mill-5\HAAS*UMC.RP5
Default_ABC_modes = +A+B+C
EnableDogLeg = 1
4thAxis_Limits = [-35.0000,145.0000]
5thAxis_Limits = [0.0000,-4000.0000]
4thAxis_ProgrammingLetter = B
5thAxis_ProgrammingLetter = C
If it's a 3 axis Reverse Post, it will be in the \Common*Files\RPost*7.0\Mill\ folder and will have an RPM extension.
If it's a 4+ axis Reverse Post, it will be in \Common*Files\RPost*7.0\Mill-5\ folder and will have an RP5 extension.

Not thinking you wouldn't know this, but for the simplistic sake of others reading, it's listed next to the machine selection, in predator.

Don't forget about the all important "tweak" that will actually show "Dog Leg Rapids"
Thanks for that years ago SBC

Yeah, I got in there and changed that today, but I generally don't have an issue with that. :)
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
While we're on this subject. We've added a fourth axis to our Haas VF-3SSYT and have been unable to make Predator display the A-Axis moves. Can anyone point us in the right direction? SBC Cycle? Thanks.
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
In Predator, choose the 4AXVMILL.....

Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
Burr thanks. Yep, already tried that, but we do not get any rotation in predator (see "Backplot Screen Shot.docx"). I've attached a .zip file containing "4axvmill.mch", "0004 ADR-02609-021.02.nc", "Backplot Screen Shot.docx" and "Fanuc0.rp5" files. It's possible we have made some changes to "4axvmill.mch" and possibly the "Fanuc0.rp5" controller file trying to get this to work. If help is much appreciated.
Re: Predator locks up with G73 and G83 Codes!
Ok, we got Predator working with the 4AXVMILL.MCH and FANUC0.RP5 files. Question - Is there any documentation for the .MCH files? We have the documentation for the reverse post files, "Reverse Post Reference Manual", but I haven't found any documentation that explains the .MCH files.

Go to the Help menu and type mch/display
