What cnc router to buy ?

Hello Everyone!
This is my first post so if it is in the wrong place im sorry.

I am looking for a cnc router 24"x36" or 48"x48". What I want to know are there any brands that I should stay a way from,or any that are great for the money.I would like it to be spindle powered. I plan on making switch plate and outlet covers out of all species of wood they will be roughly 5/16 thick
5" high x up to 17" wide,and maybe do some sign making. I have been lookin at the romaxx WD-1 and also the stinger-I i want to be in the $4000 to $6500 range. I have no experiance with cnc but have a friend that has a lot of time with using all the differant programming. Also what programing would you recomend?

I think you'll find that no machines in that size or price range are perfect. In most cases, the more you spend, the more you get. The Stinger is probably the heaviest built machine in the range your looking at, but it's also the most expensive. Part of that expense is the WinCNC control software that they use.

As far as software goes, V-Carve Pro is a very good place to start.

These guys offer some fairly competent machines starting at about $5000:

Try to find a picture of a customer owned Blurry Customs machine. I've never seen one. I've only heard of one person that had one, and he never posted any pics of it.

Yep, they do seem to be few and far between. I did find two though. They are not very conclusive, (Other than delivered machines equal not vaporware) because one apparently never used his and one had shipping damage:

So exactly what should I watch out for when im looking for a cnc router?
Im willing to spend 8to9g if it means the router will last longer and work better
but I definetly don,t want to go any bigger than 4x4,I would be interested in used also

I have a chance to buy a used multicam cnc router I believe its a max44 with vac table and 3hp spindle 48x48 for $9500 what should I watch out for when I go look at it? The owner is buying a larger cnc.

See if it is 3 phase or single phase what type of software comes with it.

if you can afford for 9500 thats a good deal for muticam.. does it have the vacumpump?
check spindle sure works quietly and runs up to max.. i mean to 18 or 24 K rpm..
if spindle has special taper, like iso20 or iso 30 sure you get some toolholders for..

i purchased my router for 6700.. at my door..
48x72... and 8 inch full movement on Z axis..

for me works well... my concern was can i put a full sheet material on the table....
i started with a 24x36 and a few weeks and i was in trouble by the small size..
i know folks dont prefer chinese.. however no one gives me money free to buy a professional router..

I would spend more on software. Vectric aspire at 2000 would give you the capabilities to do just about everything you could ever think of with a router. New version 4 is simply amazing! Keling has some good deals on CNC routers and there is always Craig's list.
