Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
Are usual trade shows in times of Covid-19 no longer time up to date? And will they possibly go entirely out of fashion after the pandemic, so that more and more companies will focus on virtual events and virtual trade shows?
What´s your opinion? Do you have experiences with virtual industrial events?
In Düsseldorf, for example, the METAV Web sessions will take place in June where exhibitors are now presenting themselves and their portfolios. It was set up after the original fair in March had to be postponed. Do you know other virtual trade shows that were created this year because of Covid-19?
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
Yes, I think it´s a great opportunity. You can use 360° videos or create a CGI based virtual reality. Although the production means a lot of effort and can be expensive at first, in the end it may be really cost effective: You can avoid to send a lot of staff to trade shows, book hotels, wasting time with the wrong visitors and so on.
But I don´t think, that virtual events will replace physical trade shows entirely. The face to face contact will still be important, now and in 20, 50 or 100 years.
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
true, trade shows will certainly not be replaced one hundred percent. You must also have the opportunity to see and try out a product/machine directly. This is virtually impossible.

Canton Fair this year also cancelled
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
There will be an interesting virtual trade fair in March: METAV digital 2021 from 23-26 March. It is the first time that this trade fair will be held virtually.
If you are interested in participating in the fair as a visitor or even as an exhibitor, you can find more information here:

Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
An interesting topic with virtual exhibitions, I support this format, I think that even through screens you can try to convey all the beauty and depth of works, it seems to me that in the near future, traditional exhibitions may be replaced with virtual ones
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
As already described above, traditional exhibitions will certainly not be replaced completely in the future. There is a big difference between communicating virtually and face-to-face.
But virtual trade shows can be a nice addition in the future. But it will certainly take a few more years for everyone to be able to use such virtual services without any (technical) problems.
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
The loading times of the virtual booths on these digital trade shows are sometimes annoying. Especially if you live in areas without fast internet.
Re: Virtual trade shows in times of Covid-19
I support this format, a fascinating subject of interactive exhibits, I think that even by computer, all the elegance and depth of your works can be transmitted, it seems to me that typical exhibitions can be replaced by virtual ones in the near future.
