from solid to surface
hi gents
i make my design in a solid works 2007 and then convert the file to mc 9 , then i creat surface from solid in mc 9 ,i tried to convert the solids to a surface in solid works but i couldn't figur it out , i just know how to delet a face of a solid to get the surface , my question is are there any command in solid works that changes the solid to a surface with out deleting it's face?????
any answer will be appreciated

You could save as an IGES file then open in Mastercam and it would be in surfaces.

i know how to make iges to convert to surface in mc9 ,,,, my question is how can i convert solid to surface in solid works??????

The easiest way is to use the surface offset function in SW. Simple select the surface of the solid that you'd like to change into a surface. Select the offset surface function and set the offset to zero.. voila'

Another useful tip when using the offset surface function is to use the "Select Tangency" command available when you right click on a face. This could save you alot of time by not having to select individual surfaces.
