Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
Hey All,
I wanted to power my Chinese BOB with a power adapter instead of the USB port.
I have 2 adapters to chose from, 5.3v 500mA or 5v 2.5A.
Which is better to use to power my chinese CNC BOB.
Here is an image of the board, for clarification.

Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
I'd go with the 5 volt one myself. I don't think the 2.5 amps will worry you at all.
Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
I agree it's better to use a separate psu. Like Rod said the 5V is fine

Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
are both power supplies regulated ??
if both supplies are regulated
the 5.3V supply can be use as its within the 5V plus or minus 10% limit for TTL logic IC's
if the 5.3V supply is a phone charger - don't use it , they are not normally regulated

Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
The 5.3V was from a old mobile charger. I thought the current might be a bit low, at 500mA.
The 5V2.5A was from a external usb hub.
Thanks All for your replies.

Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
I was looking for one of these but i could not find one available for Australia. And few that i did find were over priced.
But it's all good now, i'll just use the 5v2.5a power adapter that i have.
Re: Breakout board power, Which Power pack?
This is the one I recommend for my breakout boards.
