Sliding door rail replacement
I need to replace a bottom door rail on one of my Fadals. The round bar is not round anymore and it causes the bearings grind over and actually seize after a while. I know it is 5/8" in diameter but which material ( grade) should I buy as replacement? And also, how difficult it is to push the old one out and install new one?
Thanks

Most of the ones I’ve seen just seem like cold rolled steel but I’ve never seen a brand new machine.
I bet some chrome plated shafting would hold up better.
Make sure the bearings are all good in the sliders aswell
Re: Sliding door rail replacement
Its just 5/8 steel tubing just as Ian said. Easy to change just remove/loosen the collar at the ends with a allen wrench. Slide out and slide new one in place
Re: Sliding door rail replacement
Just rotate the shaft 180 deg. should be good for the next 20 years or so.
