Type 45 bearing question

Hi

I'm currently in progress of converting my 45 type mill to cnc.
First axis to be converted is the z-axis. I use 20mm ball screws and therefore FK15 bearing supports which I converted to angular contact bearings.
I only use one fixed bearing support at the top of the collum ==> no lose bearing support at the bottom.
During assembly I noticed that the not supported end of the spindel can be moved by hand in radial direction.

Is this normal? Can this be harmful to my ball screws?

That is fine.

If your ball screw nut has slop you will be able to move the screws around. If its tight it will have almost no movement. Having a bearing on that end wont change the backlash or performance if you top rapids are under 200 IPM.
