Emcoturn 120P - Need some general idea of fair value

Folks,

I'm looking at an Emcoturn 120P as a control update opportunity that would work
out a lot better than starting with an asian import for my CNC turning center
project. The question I have is what constitutes a fair price for one of these
machines in good mechanical condition. This machine does not have the 220 to
390 transformer/phase converter to light it up. I'm told that it was in good
condition when it came out of a local college, but as we all know, that may just
be a bit of BS on the part of the seller. It isn't local, so I can only go off
of photographs and don't want to invest more than this machine is worth. That
is where I need some help. I am trying to pin down a fair price for this
machine. I don't want to be a jerk, but I'm not going to pay for someone's
misperception of its fair market value based on how much they paid for it.

Scouring the internet yields a wide range of numbers. On the high end, we have
machine retailers that are trying to sell this 20+ year old machine for top
dollar, with numbers in the 7-9.5k range. That's absurd. On the other hand, I
have been trying to get info about what these usually go for at auction in order
to determine the range that most people find themselves paying. I was able to
find one auction in the UK back in March that the winning bid was 1400GBP (about US $2250).
Has anyone on here bought one of these in the last year or two, and if you don't
mind sharing, what did you end up paying for it? PM me if you'd rather not share that info publicly.

For the moment, ignore the fact that I'll abandon the Emcotronic T1 controller
and start over with all new electronics. I'm just looking for a fair price to
offer up for a used 120P without the transformer/phase converter.
