Huanyang spindle blown....
Hey u guys.... Ive tried some searches and no luck....
Ok what happened is i was running the vfd and the spindle at 24k rpm
And after like 3 min or so.... The was a short... Vft blew up... Like the sound was like gun went off....
So yes the vfd is gone..... I ran it for almost two years....
And its the 1.5kw watercooled from huanyang
Anyway.....
I think it shorted cuz i was cutting alum... And maybe little piece got in there and got things messed up....
Now what i need to check is if my spindle is still ok.... A friend said that theres 90% chance that its blown too....
So how do i check if it works.... Dont have another vfd to check.... But i do have a multimeter.... But some one would have to tell me what to do kinda step by step.. ;)
Please?
Re: Huanyang spindle blown....
You're going to need a new VFD anyway, so why not just get one (I'd suggest a Hitachi this time) hook it up and see if the spindle runs. Just because your drive blew up, there's no particular reason it should have killed your spindle, but this will tell you one way or the other. I suppose you could use your multimeter to check for dead shorts, while you wait for your new VFD to arrive. And next time, situate it so that chips don't fly into it.
