A2100 control touch screen fix
A2100 touch screen monitor repair. My arrow 500 tube type monitor died, Siemens said $3100 to upgrade to lcd. Lets see 200.00 for monitor,90 for touch screen 2 hours r&d, if all new parts, here is what i did. The touch screen is a Elo Touch , 5 wire resistive Accutouch, the standard is a 12.1" and you can buy this to fix the stock touch panel. I used a 15" LCD monitor I had around, Viewsonic vx500,15" LCD, removed the plastic case, installed a 15" Accutouch resistive touch panel and milled the plastic front housing to accept larger screen. I am now up and running with a 15" touch screen display, so easy to read and use. total cost monitor free, had one from an old computer, touch panel, $107.00 with freight., 2 hr of my time.

Re: A2100 control touch screen fix
The CRT died in our Arrow 500 (A2100,1998 model I think) but the touch screen was the strap-on type that just sits in front of the picture tube. I just bought a 12 inch flat screen monitor which was probably meant for a cash register or something and strapped it in the with two bands of perforated plumbing strap (Yes, I AM the true mechanic) and re-calibrated the touch screen. No modification to anything, cost was around $120. I also replaced the bulging rear cover with a flat sheet aluminum panel so the operator can store snacks in the recess behind the monitor. But your way was cool too.

Bob:
I was going to do what you did, but while using the 15" screen hung in front of the old one i got used to it being easier to read. Old eyes/ bifocals, so I went with the 15" fitmentand the small mod to the case. I also used a flat plate on the back of the enclosure. one note case is much cooler now.
