enclosure for CNC mill / laser engraver, what layers to use in the window?

I would like to build an enclosure for my CNC mill. I'm planning on laminating these layers together with epoxy resin:

- inner most layer: glass, so the flood coolant will not have access to the other layers
- next layer: polycarbonate, so a flying block of metal, or a milling bit does not penetrate the window.
- next layer: acrylic, to protect the polycarbonate
- outer most layer: glass, to protect the acrylic from scratches.

Is this the best choice of materials? Will this also protect against a laser diode like this [1] one?
Is the acrylic layer needed? What minimal thickness is required?
