I'm sending some polite letters to both of them, requesting they turn over a current copy of the database, all attachments, and all images associated with the forum, in the interest of allowing users to continue to support the product that they are still actively selling. I encourage others to also send PAPER mail, along with addresses, both physical and electronic, to which the data may be submitted. Mix up the naming a little. Make some formal. Make some to 'Andy', etc.

They have updated the website in 2025. They have paid their business registration in 2025. The business is current and active.

I hope you get an answer. Personally, I'm giving up! I haven't received a single reply to my emails in over a year... and it's certainly not just an oversight. I'm a little disappointed that it's ending like this after 10 years of collaboration on documentation, translation, etc.

There also doesn't seem to have been any progress on his X account regarding robots, at least not until the end of 2024. Then, I don't know, like many French people, I deleted my X account (which I only used to follow Andy and his robots).

These won't be emails, David. I'm sending paper letters, with return-receipt requests. He just might not be getting his emails, but he'll get these.

He may not respond, but at least he'll get them. I'd encourage others to do so, also. Send some to his girlfriend, as well.

Having been a forum member for so long, I feel like I have a collegiate ownership of the forum
along with the other regular posters on the forum, and was lamenting the fact that the forum had
been down for a while now (this time) and the intermittency and duration of these outages was getting worse over time, and as
CamBam is a revenue stream, Andy would have a pecuniary interest in keeping it 'Motoring along' and for software like this, a forum
is essential, and as Andy is a one man band, (In engineering this is called a single point of failure)
I can't help but think that he has other things on his mind, perhaps a personal tragedy of some kind, like loss of a family member, Nasty Diagnosis, Separation etc.
Who knows, the world is a strange place and reality can be stranger than fiction sometimes.

In any case I miss the forum and wish it was back.

More than once I've gotten nowhere dealing with one person in a company, and gotten all issues resolved by bringing it to the attention of another.

At this point I'm with LLoyd on this, because with the forum it the state it its, it's useless. We have nothing to lose by getting Andy's attention. To Ben's point, If something tragic (God forbid) happened to Andy, how much time would take to respond to David email in few words?
Really, Andy can do whatever he pleases, but IMHO, is ignoring its members who contributed in many ways, and acting like a 'product support' group it puzzling..

I just have a look, the last reply I received from Andy (on discord) is dated 4 March 2023 .. so more than 2 years !!! (and August 2022 for the last reply to a mail)

Before it was common for Andy to take a month or two to respond, but two years is a record LOL

The weirdest thing is, we've been discussing on Discord the bugs in V1.0 that are being fixed in V1.1 and the brand new features in V2.0 almost every day... and suddenly... radio silence.

I don't know about the progress of V2.0 (CamBam Pro) which was supposed to exist in parallel with V1.x, but for V1.1, it should have been released only a few weeks after our discussion... mystery.

I did a new backup of the database that I sent to Ralf ... unfortunately as I expect, no way to backup the attachments and images through the admin panel ...

Hello,
I have just imported the new database.
I have to make the settings again, so there are currently error messages.
The directory in which all attachments are located is: ‘C:\www\forum2020\attachments’
I think that Andy's entire web server is a Windows box sitting around at home. Of course, I can't get access to the Windows directories.
I would have to compress all the attachments in this directory and then transfer them to my server. I have just read that the files are renamed by SMF. A hash is added. I have just read that only the complete directory can be transferred. If you want to transfer individual files, e.g. via FTP, this is limited by many FTP programmes to 9998 files, anything more than that is lost.

I can now update this old forum to a current version, that would be a ‘large update’. After that the forum runs with a current PHP, but there is no going back. If someone then needs an attachment, they just have to ask.
That's all I can do without Andy's help regarding attachments.

But then I can also set up the forum so that people can exchange information there again.
But first I have to decide which way the forum should go. As long as Andy's forum is running, I see no reason to set up a competitor forum.
