Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hello!!
i am a farm wife who works off the farm my husband bought a cnc machine with the plasma cutter and the router for me to use, problem is i have no idea how to run the software, and neither does he, we are stumped, going in december to a class in reno, and a mini holiday, but i know 2 days will certainly not be enough,
Is there anywhere that will walk us through how to cut even one thing just to teach me slowly? anyone? i like to have something on paper printed out to floolow
Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi CNCZone!
I'm Pete, although I'm known to my family & friends as Fluffy. I worked with CNC machines in factory settings, for a while, back in the late 80's (up to'91 I think) Edwards Pearson Press Brakes and a Trumpf cutter/punch machine, and studied Mechatronics and AI/pathfinding as a part of my degree, So I had a few clues about what these machines can do and how they work. Add this to the fact that I have recently been forced to retire (very!) early, because of a health problem, I found myself in desperate need of a new hobby, simply because I had way, WAY, too much time on my hands! And so my 4-axis Chinese 3040 arrived... all new and shiney.
It didn't work, but it WAS all new & shiney... but there began the fun!
I won't go into the details of how the fun manifested itself (and I mean no sarcasm, it has been fun), coz I'm pretty sure that EVERYONE on this forum has already been there and back again! Suffice it to say I now have a working machine and am secure in the knowledge that I didn't know anywhere near as much as I thought I knew!
More importantly, I've also come to realize that I have far more left to learn than I've already learned. From what I've read in the posts that I've looked at so far, it looks like this is the place to find people who can help, and I'd like to thank you all, in advance, for all that help... coz, by God, I'm gonna need it!!
Look forward to working with you all, guys!
Fluffy
Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi! I joined the forum because I am interested in a DIY CNC router. I plan to use the router for RC Modeling to cut mainly wood and carbon, although I wouldn't mind the ability to cut aluminum as well. I am just starting my research into designs that might handle these materials. I am brand new to this field and am open to any guidance or suggestions. Feel free to message me and point me in the right direction. Thanks!

Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi all,
I'm currently designing and building a complete home automation system and in the process of designing it, I figured out I'd need some parts custom built, so after a fair bit of poking around it worked out that it would be cheaper (and a lot more fun) to build my own Arduino powered CNC Router.
I was directed over here by a user on the Arduino forum.........So hello everybody :)
Once it's finished and working all properly, I am planning on posting the plans/instructions online for free. :)

Hi, all. I'm Walter
Hobbiest; total newbie (aka noob) with CNC/NC devices.
Computer security type, some programming (x86, Motorola 6000 series a million years ago), got interested in stepper/microstepper driven linear positioning systems, so I'm trying to learn in my unlimited spare time (widowed in January, trying to fill empty hours when I'm not at work with something better than watching CNN or the flying-saucer -- history 2 -- channel).

Hello,
I'm an embroiderer who likes new toys. In addition to my 3 single head embroidery machines, I have a direct-to-garment printer, vinyl cutter, rotary engraver and the newest toy, a laser engraver which is why I'm joining the community. Here's to learning!

Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hello CNC Zone!
I collect DXF files to make some of these 3D puzzles (mostly to give away). I print the parts out onto flat PVC credit-card stock with machines manufactured by our company.
I also like to design and build card models.
Best Regards,

Hi,
My name's Reuben, I live in Wollongong (Australia). I have been in the manufacturing/ Wood-working industry for 3 years now, working in our family business. We manufacture timber windows and doors mainly for the high-end Architectural market in Sydney (Australia).
Our company recently purchased a Biesse RoverA 5 Axis pod and rail machine which I run now full time (including programming, set up and operation).
I look forward to getting lots of great ideas from you all!

Hi!
I am a retired engineer from Istanbul, I joined the forum because I am begining to building a CNC router. I plan to use the router for to cut mainly wood, plastic (ABS), although I would like the ability to cut aluminum as well.
I am quite new to this field and am open to any guidance or suggestions. Feel free to message me and point me in the right direction.

Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hello
I'm a retired mechanical engineer in San Antonio, Texas.
I've cleaned up an old (circa '91) Techno Isel table top gantry router that's been sitting for ages. Driving it with a Synthetos TinyG controller.
I've been lurking here for a while. Sure is a lot of knowledge floating around that I've already put to use, so thanks.

Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi. After much preparation, effort, and savings, finally my brand new, professionally made CNC 100mmx800mmx50mm is entirely operational. I am so excited that I could dance, if I were not this tired. This is going to be a HUGE improvement in my home income and general well-being for us!. Support and encouragement words are welcome. I hold a bachelor degree, as a metallurgist so I could answer some questions you could have.
This is a GREAT blog, and I appreciate it very much.
Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi, I am Paul, have been manual machining for 30 years and have many CNC parts manufactured for historic racing Norton motorcycles.
Looking to purchase a 2 axis CNC lathe with live tooling in next 3 months and start manufacturing some parts myself.
Recently purchased OneCNC lathe seat, so wanted to come here to join forum
best wishes
Paul
Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi.
I'm Andy, I'm from the UK, Have seen lots of good advice and info from your pages whilst been saving for a laser cutter/engraver.
Now I've actually managed to get one, I thought it a good time to join you.
I've just started to set it up, and after a few teething troubles, I did my first few cuts just using paper till I get the hang of it.
Cheers!
Andy.
Re: Welcome thread-tell us about you.
Hi,
For some time I have had the idea to build a CNC. Finally I am doing it and at the moment I am in the process of collecting, buying and making the parts. I am gathering all kind of information - the reason I registered here.

Hiya
I`m a CNC programmer 3,4 and 5 axis machines....quite handy with Fanuc ...Heidenhain and Okuma controllers .Have been heavily involved running Delcam Powermill just started to explore Edgecam. In the past I have got many great tips from you guys as a visitor....but some threads are only viewable as a registered member....so here I am.
