Re: 1996 4020ht - new to me, much maintenance required
Got onto machtool. He is too busy to look at it.
Still trying to weigh up doing it myself
About $800aud for the bearings they are a common spindle set here In Aus so no lead time for parts.
I also changed out the y axis 7304 thrust bearings with proper 61deg contact angle preloaded ball screw support bearings.
Previous i was chasing 0.01mm in the bearings and they were new. Swapped them out, no shims needed as they have 350kg or so preload on them once assembled. Now have zero backlash on that axis from the bearings and probably last a heap longer as they are a higher capacity bearing for ball screws.

Is this a kit? or did you just find these bearings for some other ball screw?

Not a kit just worked it out myself.
22 years in the bearing game helped as suppliers of this bearing set a pretty hard to find.
If it was 25mm inside dia I would have many manufactures to choose from.

Hello I have a VMC15XT, are these bearings and seals for each axis?

These are per axis. Mine were for a 4020.

There were only two seals on my vmc15xt.
The other seals are for the cool power system. Now I don’t remember what the number were for the ones I needed. But it’s one of the two above.

Yep, I have (Had) water cooled ball screws, so there is an IN and an OUT port in the screw, which means 3 seals for the cooling, and 1 dust seal for the bearing.
Re: 1996 4020ht - new to me, much maintenance required
Bit of an update.
I replaced x and y ball screws seals and thrust bearings. All were changed over to proper ball screw support bearings.
1 reballed the z axis.
I installed a reman spindle from its
Replaced hi/low cylinders as 1 was leaking
Replaced the crt with a lcd.
Pulled all the keys and dials and cleaned them.
Rebuilt the spindle chiller pump.
Replaced a couple if leaking chiller fittings.
Replaced the work light with a led worklight
General clean up and return to service
