Yes, slide will have cover.
No turret on this lathe, since I design it as vertical gang lathe.
Also I know nothing about turret, how to control it.

Update on my lathe project.
I already made tool holder for internal turning. Min diameter is 14mm.
The reason I made it, because tool in the market not suitable for me.

Tool bits made from tungsten carbide. First make hole by superdrill and cut the square by wirecut machine.
For the holder I use hardened steel and finish by grinding.

Happy, today I do first chipping, with temp tool holder.
Result so far is acceptable.
material diameter 30mm length 100mm, after cut, headstock end and tailstock end difference 0.01mm.
But don't know, how to adjust x axis to work half than what i command.
If I order the machine to move x axis 1mm, since it round it will reduce the diameter as 2mm.
Anybody can enlighten me?

Dont know. There is a fixed option in one of the pin setup tabs. Why would you want to activate/de-activate it once its set?

Yesterday I check my toys, I found out:
My Z axis out of precision as much as 0.02mm for 120mm
My X axis out of precision as much as 0.07mm for 180mm

G07/G08 to switch between radius and diameter mode on most controllers. Unfortunately, I can't find a reference in Mach3 to those codes, so they may not be supported.
Regarding your errors, consider:
- How well is your steps per inch calibrated? Don't rely on a calculation. Instead, you need to actually measure distance travelled accurately and use that information. There is a calibration utility in Mach3. Hoss and others have published videos on how to do this.
- Those numbers are within the range for a small amount of backlash. Make sure as you measure the travel you eliminate the possibility for backlash affecting your measurement. There are many sources of backlash, so just think of it as lost motion as your axis changes direction.
- Consider flexure of some sort.
- Last choice I would look into is some leadscrew error. If you have an accurate glass scale you can map the leadscrew error and Mach will compensate it out.
Of course, if all of the error is due to one of these, I'm sure you feel like that's a lot of error. But, more likely is one is causing the majority of error but the others may contribute a little as well.

This based on real value measurement, not affected by backlash, since I measure it in 1 direction.
Backlash value for z is 0.07mm, after compensate result is only 0.002mm for changing direction, but minimum movement must be more than 0.07mm.
Backlash value for x is zero, since it it stay vertical so the weight force it down.
I use 5mm pitch high precision ballscrew.
I use gear 1:3 and I use electronic gearing on servo to compensate it, so for 1mm movement my servo driver need 1000 pulse.
As Information, my squaring of x-z axis not perfect.
for 120mm movement it tilt as much as 0.003mm

i see that you have your rails for X axis mounted to a different plate and then the plate is mounted on it's back to the z. You can twist the plate a little bit and use two or more holding pins.Quote:

are you using mach3? if so it only needs 1 pulse per rev. There are instructions in the manual. I have a small optical sensor and a tab that breaks the beam.
