The first trial :)
0.2mm silver wire.

Brilliant!
A work of great care and patience I imagine to get the silver wire embedded without breaking the egg?
And what glue to hold it in place?

Thank you for posting all of this great artwork. Like many others, I am amazed.
Looking back at the egg that you drilled with so many holes, you mentioned that there were some challenges with holding tolerances. Do you think that the process of drilling the holes might have shifted the egg's surface around vs the original scan?
My wife is not usually that interested in CNC, but I am definitely going to show her this thread.
Thin delicate chicken eggs? OK, that is special.
You have the surface-following down to microns.
Wonderful!

Have you thought of using air-gauging with a small orifice? Since the probe does not touch the surface you could actually spin the egg while measuring. Hum ... now try getting the data back into Mach. This could be tricky. ModBus might work. Some experiment needed.
With the speed of air sensing you could make multiple scans of the surface and average.

That fast? Fair enough: you don't need the complexities of air gauging.

I hope you post more details about your process. Very inspiring!
Here a bit detail of it.
