Input requested: Bridgeport CNC Series 1 Servo - Retrofit

I recently acquired a Bridgeport CNC Series 1 Servo machine that at some point had been converted from Boss controls to Fagor (model 800M) back in the day. The spindle had also been converted to run on a VFD on 110v. The machine runs in all axis currently, but the Fagor control is a very old control that doesn't run on G code. As such, I am looking to do a retrofit to a Mach 3 based system.

I have used Mach 3 on 3 other machines in the past but they have been stepper based machines and much smaller (read as desktop machines).

Anyway, after a lot of research, I am thinking about a conversion setup that looks like the following:

CNC4PC Ethernet SmoothStepper
CNC4PC C32 BOB
CNC4PC C34DG (if using DG4S driver)
DG4S-016035 Servo Drivers (or maybe a Viper)
Continue to use the existing VFD for the spindle
Continue to use the existing eStop and limit switches

I will also need to add a 5 and 12v power supply. I am thinking that I can use the current power supply for the motors but will have to see about that. All of the rest of the existing cabling and controls would be removed. The new components would be loaded into the existing rear housing.

I will also use the existing Servos which are Servo Dynamics MTS30M-38 no. S23706 with an rpm of 1400 and a volt of 47 from SEM.

Your thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated before I plunk down cold hard cash on this retrofit.

i was just too afraid for the ram (and it was good because the mechanic did mount the Z Axis magnet wrong ,.. (to deep )

just an update. The mentioned the wrong specs for the servos above. They are 140V/ 47A servos and a max RPM of 3700. I am assuming at this point that they have encoders as the boss system was removed and replace with a FAGOR 800M controller system at some point in the 80/90's.

I purchased the following items from Arturo. I need to find some time to start working on it.

1. Ethernet Smooth Stepper
2. C32 Dual Port MultiFunction Board
3. C48 eStop connector Board
4. 3- DG4S-16035 servo drives
5. C55 Dual 25 amp Relay Board
6. C34DG Driver to RJ45 Connector board for Dugong drivers
7. 5v power supply
8. 12v power supply
9. USB programming stick

Any thoughts on creating a mounting board for the new components out of wood that I can setup and and trace all of the new wires on and then install into the old back cabinet of the series one after it is cleaned out? issues?

Also, what is the best way to determine if my servos indeed have encoders on them? Trying to figure out if I need to purchase encoders or if I can use the what might already be there.

You should look at Dmm for your Servo Motors/Drives, what you are looking at don't compare, cost is much the same, CNC4PC sell the Dmm servo Drives Motors as well

Yes, they are SEM.
