Epilog control board

Hi All, I have just joined this site as I am impressed with the the level of knowledge and I need help. My Epilog Mini started giving me a X/Y axis disabled:X error. Diagnosed as not an X axis motor issue but a control board fault. Cost of new one $2,000 so I sought out a repairer. He has replaced a faulty chip and repaired some corrosion and assured me it is fixed. After reinstalling nothing has changed. Do I need to do something to reinstall? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
