If you are trying to get the most speed, you need to increase voltage to the motors. Different drives won't make that much difference.
Different motors can make much more difference than different drives.
What are the specs of the motors you have, and what voltage power supply are you using?
The steppers are KL23H276-30-8B and the power supply is marked S350-48 7.3A I measured the output voltage to 44V.
Do you have them wired bipolar parallel?
You probably wouldn't see much difference going to a drive that can supply the rated 4.2a, unless you also increase the voltage to around 70V. And at that point, I'd find a motor with more torque as well.
OK.
Do you think that mine stepper mototrs are to small for a Taig mill? Which motors would you recommend?
No, they should be fine for a Taig.
