Need some advise on laser diode optics
I am trying to focus a 2.5w blue solid state laser diode... But then this happens (attached images)...
No clear small dot is ever achieved... Any idea why? There always this "line" crossing the focal point..
This arrived as this from factory..
Is it a optic flaw? A diode flaw? Is it... Normal ?
I have co2 experience... But solid state lasers are yet a new field for me. Any feedback would be highly appreciated.. :)
Re: Need some advise on laser diode optics
Try lowering laser module.
It looks that is located too high so that focus point is way above yourpaper.
On my 2.5W module, focal length is cca. 40mm.
Re: Need some advise on laser diode optics
Based on this, it appears that diode lasers output a rectangular shaped beam.

Re: Need some advise on laser diode optics
But they can be focused to a beam of cca. 0.1mm diameter.
When out of focus, beam appears as line.
