Videos of my 'Almost Perfect' CNC Router with DIY ATC
Greetings,
I have put together some videos covering my DIY CNC Router which also has a DIY Automatic Tool Change system on it. This machine has been developed, modified, rebuilt, re-controlled, etc. over the last 15 years. I still have some more modifications planned in the future but for now I consider it "almost perfect". For those of you that are trying to decide on a control for your machine, I also explain why I abandoned the MACH3 software and switched to Centroid Acorn which has proven to be more reliable and "trustworthy". There is enough detail in the videos where you might also pick up some ideas for your machine. Here are the videos...
Overview of the entire machine https://youtu.be/4-pMbP0K6bw
Demonstration video of Automatic Tool Change System https://youtu.be/qwkQbBZi40E
Explanation of the magazine used in the Automatic Tool Change System https://youtu.be/jn7q5AzYjgo
Explanation of the Tool length measuring and part height measuring sensors https://youtu.be/9FW6pWEcMcw
Explanation of the Mechanical aspects of the Collet Nut Tightening / Loosening actuator https://youtu.be/FqJKw8ixR9c
Explanation of the Electronics and Software aspects of the Collet Nut Tightening / Loosening actuator https://youtu.be/fDu7Rqzx27Y
Thanks for taking a look.

I hadn't watched them either when I commented, since I know it's a ton of effort just to make the videos. But what he's done is a whole other level of engineering. The OP has a pneumatically actuated spindle wrench and a geared down collet nut tightener/loosener, all hooked up with limit switches and control logic, etc. It's mindblowing. Watch :)
