converting a .sldprt solidworks file into a .stp or parasolid file

im using solidworks2009 and i need to convert my part file into a .stp or parasolid file.. i believe its going to be put into mastercam not entirely sure.. but any help on how to do this will be greatly appreciated

use, save as, specify parasolid or step

all i can save it as is .sldprt edrawing and 2 other other ones... am i missing something? i do only have an education version of it so that might be a problem also

Yes, the educational versions can be restrictive in what data is transferable ( ie the source software may not export the desired format, the destination software may ( also being educational ) may also have options "greyed out"

- but that being said
Mastercam can import Solidworks files directly, the limitation is that the .sldprt file is from the same or earlier year, than the destination software ie 2009 .sldprt file cannot be opened by a earlier Mastercam X4 or X5 version

Step(.stp) / Iges(.igs) / Parasolid(.x_t) - These formats are fairly reliable ways to exchange solid models between various software
--- stay away from stereolithic (.stl) formats, Their shapes can be altered be the accuracy setting when exporting & importing. So the final shape cannot be guaranteed to be the same as in the original design
