Nice looking spinner. I made a wooden one for my kids and found out that it needed a bit of weight to be effective. I ended up cutting a pocket just large enough to hold a few pennies in and covered it with a cap. It works so much better.

Probably some weight on the outer arms would have made it spin better.

I did the same things several weeks ago but cut my grandson one out of aluminum. Worked great.

Does it teach them anything about gyroscopic action?

The aluminum i built spins very fast and when my grandson tries to twist his hand he can feel the gyroscopic action, the faster you spin it the more obvious it is when you twist you hand. Kind of neat.
