MESA board recommendation for Pulsar and PathPilot
Hi guys,
I called Tormach today and ordered the PathPilot DVD. It was 100 bucks, and they have a part number for non Tormach users - 36035 I believe.
I have a few questions, and I'll probably have a couple more during the switchover. Primarily, I'm curious as to what MESA board is recommended. I have the 4 axis stepper Pulsar and would like to keep some flexibility for future additions (additional axes, tool changer, or changing to servos). Also, I'm using BobCAM for SolidWorks and will need to know what post processor to use.
Anything else to know while switching controllers?
Thanks for your help!
Micah
Re: MESA board recommendation for Pulsar and PathPilot
I followed Brian's instructions on installing PathPilot on my Pulsar. I installed PP on a new SSD using an old motherboard I already had. The MESA card you need depends on the motherboard in your control panel. I used an empty PCI slot in the old mother board with the 5i25 MESA Card. I think if you use a newer MB you may need the 7i25 MESA card. The complete changeover took an hour or two.
See this thread for Brian's instructions.

Ditto. But it's either 5i25 or 6i25 depending on pci vs pci-express slots respectively

I use the Tormach PathPilot Mill post from Fusion. Its the built in one.
